Tucked away in a forest along the McKenzie River, this residence embodies Pacific Northwest modernism and sustainable craftsmanship. This riverfront residence is constructed using timber harvested directly from the site, featuring a structural system of exposed heavy wood framing. The exterior is finished in weathered cedar siding and stone masonry, selected to patina naturally and integrate with the surrounding forest. The forest is brought into the residence through double-height glazing and strategic views to help reinforce interior connections to nature. The design emphasizes a functional, material-forward approach, prioritizing a direct connection between the built environment and its natural context.
